Scapes starting to Bloom? – Growing Garlic Bulbils 2022-2023, series – part 20 (5-July-2023)

Scape that has split and starting to show the bulbils. The purple tips are the bulbils and the green pieces are flower. We’re going to let these grow a little more and then look to harvest.
Another one splitting. Most haven’t yet, but we expect more to start splitting soon.
The scapes are pointing straight up. These are all well past the point of harvesting the scapes for use in food and the energy from the plant is going to the scapes rather than the bulbs. We cut a little more than half the scapes but are hoping to harvest the bulbils to increase the yields for next fall.
More scapes approaching the time to harvest bulbils. It’s looking like we will start harvesting soon based on the two that already split and most others looking fairly large. We will harvest in weekly batches and observe how they grow over the weeks.
